The matyodesign meets the traditions of the Chinese New Year

On January 17, 2025, matyodesign visited the Budapest Chinese Cultural Centerto celebrate the Chinese New Year together and showcase the beauty of matyó embroidery. The event was a special occasion for Hungarian and Chinese cultural heritages to meet and for participants to learn more about each other's traditions.

As part of the program, visitors had the opportunity to try matyó embroidery, which was a great success among the Chinese audience. In addition, they could experience various traditional Chinese activities and art forms, such as:

  • Suzhou embroidery demonstration
  • Henan opera face painting
  • Sugar blowing
  • Lantern making
  • Paper kite making
  • Butterfly painting
  • Jiaozi-making workshop

2025 – The Year of the Snake

The special feature of this year's Chinese New Year is that 2025 is the Year of the Snake, which begins on February 29 and lasts until February 16, 2026. According to Chinese astrology, the Year of the Snake is a time of wisdom, intuition, and strategic thinking. This year offers excellent opportunities for the realization of creative projects and personal development.

Throughout the day-long program, visitors had the opportunity to try matyó embroidery, and although they could choose from various colors, everyone wanted to embroider with the traditional matyó rose colors.
